The Salvation Army Aids in Dane County Flood Relief Efforts
As disastrous flood and rising water levels lay waste to Western Dane County and outlying areas, The Salvation Army is responding through emergency shelter and immediate resource provision.
MADISON, Wis., August 23, 2018 – The Salvation Army of Dane County responded to the initial call regarding dangerous floodwaters on the night of Monday, August 20, 2018. The following morning emergency shelters were implemented at Glacier Creek Middle School in Cross Plains, Mazomanie Elementary School, and Madison West High School, the latter two of which remain open until further notice.
The Salvation Army has been able to provide meals, snacks, beverages, comfort kits, flood clean-up kits, spiritual and emotional care, and more for those in affected areas. In an effort to reach a broader audience of those in need a Multi-Agency Resource Center (MARC) will be set up at the Mazomanie Elementary School from 1-7 pm on Friday, August 24. Likewise, a second MARC will be set up at Blackhawk Church in Middleton from 10-4 pm on Saturday, August 25.
